Tobias Bloyd

10298271_10152081630356610_8359789472171451651_o copyTobias Bloyd is a PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at UH Mānoa emphasizing on language documentation and conservation. He has been a graduate assistant at the Center for Language and Technology since Fall, 2009 and has participated in most of the center’s ongoing projects. In addition, he has taught faculty development workshops, provided general technical assistance and support to the college, and assisted with setting up and carrying out various academic conferences and seminars.

Tobias’s academic research is primarily centered on bridging minority language communities to the digital world–i.e. facilitating the use of traditional languages with modern communication technology. His field work is primarily conducted in the North Maluku region of Eastern Indonesia.

In his free time, Tobias can usually be found underwater.
