1. Web Audio Utility (WAU)

In this workshop Richard will cover how to create WAU courses and activities. This workshop is ideal for first-time WAU users and experienced users who need a refresher course after a lovely summer. The workshop will be offered again at mid-semester.

4. Discussion, Discussion and Private Messages, and Forum tools in Laulima: which one do I need?

There are three very similar, yet different, tools in Laulima that allow teachers to connect with students and discuss topics on line. This demo will highlight the differences between the three so participants can make an informed decision as to which one to incorporate in their classes, and will provide examples of use for the language classroom.


5. eCafe

eCAFE is the Official University of Hawaii Course And Faculty Evaluation System. eCAFE is an entirely online evaluation system, everything from setting the questions to filling out the evaluations and viewing the results is done online. For more information on the Center for Teaching Excellence.


6. Using On-Line Storage

Do you want to make use of online storage technologies for sharing documents with your students (classroom use) or colleagues (professional use)? This workshop will cover three services available to faculty and students: Dropbox, Google Drive (formerly called “Google Docs”), and Laulima. We will cover how to use and manage sharing settings to make certain resources (folders) available only to your students or classes. These tools and services will be critical as more and more resources are going digital.

8. Google Sites

The recent adoption of Google Services by the university has created new opportunities for teachers to leverage Google Sites to provide online resources for students. In this workshop, Language Learning Center Graduate Assistants Alice and Tobias will provide workshop goers a hands-on demonstration of the steps required to create Google Sites for teaching purposes. Major topics include user access control, use of templates, and integration with Google Drive (formerly Google Docs). Newbies are welcome!
