Description: This three-part, hands-on workshop series provides a practical introduction to Python scripting for language data processing. Across three one-hour sessions, participants will build a foundation for using Python to automate common language-data tasks and gradually move toward more advanced techniques for processing and analyzing linguistic data. Along the way, we will explore how generative AI can assist with writing, understanding, and troubleshooting Python scripts, as well as how visualizations can help make patterns in language data more visible. No prior programming experience is required, only curiosity about language and a willingness to experiment. Technologies introduced in these sessions include Google Colab Notebooks (Jupyter Notebooks), Gemini AI Assistant, Python, spaCy and NLTK.
Note: Participants should either bring a laptop or request one from CLT.
