Naiyi Xie Fincham has an extensive background in designing, implementing, and refining online and blended language learning programs for learners with diverse academic and professional goals at different proficiency levels. She holds a PhD in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from Michigan State University, an MA in Educational Studies from the University of Warwick (UK), and a BA in English Language and Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University (China). Her research and professional work sit at the intersection of second language pedagogy, computer-assisted language learning, learner agency, and learning design. She is particularly interested in technology-enhanced, innovative pedagogies and in fostering language learners’ self-regulated learning skills through thoughtful learning design and targeted learner support. In addition to creating and delivering technology-focused professional learning programs for world language educators, Naiyi’s recent projects explore the use of generative AI to enhance second language speaking proficiency and the design of immersive language learning experiences in mixed-reality, multimodal environments.
