The College of Arts, Languages & Letters (CALL) is committed to providing equal access to all students. Improving Web Accessibility is a short module designed by the Center for Language & Technology in collaboration with the UH Center on Disability Studies. The module is part of a more comprehensive plan to improve online accessibility in the College and has been designed to meet the particular needs of CALL faculty. The goal of the module is to provide an introduction to the most common issues in web accessibility and present practical tips to improve accessibility levels in online materials and instruction.

The Language Audio repository provides access to UH users to a variety of language audio materials (instructor submitted). A valid UH username and password required for access. Note, copyright restricted audio materials are only accessible via the Moore Hall computer labs.

The CLT is helping to get the word out about the many things that make our campus so remarkable! UH Mānoa’s broadcast manager, Tracy Orillo-Donovan, uses our audio recording studio and our professional staff to record weekly reports on behalf of the Office of the Chancellor. These public service announcements, called the Mānoa Minute, air on 7 radio stations throughout Hawai‘i, bringing interesting insights on what’s going on at UH to the general community.

From 2005 to 2009, The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) OPI/ILR Workshops were held in the Center for Language & Technology then known as the Language Learning Center. Training was done for speakers of the following languages: Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, Tagalog, Ilokano, Cebuano, Thai, Lao, Khmer, Vietnamese, Kurdish-Sorani, Persian Farsi, Arabic, Samoan, Slovak, Marshallese.

The series emphasizes world language teaching and learning. Participants are expected to be familiar with the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages. Organized around the concept of interaction (learner-instructor, learner-learner, learner-content, and learner-community-of-practice interaction), the series helps participants develop skills in content development and technology.

The Teaching Assistant Survival Society (TASS) meets once a month each semester, providing an informal forum where TAs can socialize and share ideas/resources on issues of importance to them.
