Wenyi Ling is graduate assistant at the Center for Language & Technology (CLT) and National Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC). She is a PhD candidate in the Department of Second Language Studies at theUniversity of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM). Ling earned her BA and MA degrees in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from East China Normal University, Shanghai, China. Before arriving at UHMin 2014 topursue her PhD, Ling was a visiting scholar at Reed College in Oregon. In fall 2017, she conducted research at Peking University on Peking-UHM exchange scholar award. Ling is awarded the Doctor Dissertation Research Improvement Grant (DDRIG) from National Science Foundation (NSF) and College of Language, Linguistics and Literature (LLL) Excellence in Doctoral Dissertation Research Award for her dissertation work on second language acquisition of lexical tone. Ling has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work in field-famous conferences on spoken word recognition with eye-tracking and second language learning difficulty.
